Pure Herbal Ayurved Clinic - Ayurvedic Skin Treatment

Ayurveda literally means ‘the knowledge of life'. It is an ancient Indian system of medicine to achieve harmony of the mind, body and soul. Ayurvedic therapies and practices are used to treat diseases for thousands of years.
In Ayurvedic principles, an individual's physical constitution is determined by the vital energy that governs how living beings function, including all physical and mental processes. This energy is derived from the five elements that make up the universe – earth, water, fire, air and space. According to core Ayurvedic philosophy, an individual can be classified into one of three types based on the combination of these elements – space and air, fire and water, and earth and water. For good health, the current state should be close to their natural constitution. A divergence indicates a state of imbalance that leads to diseases. The cures and treatments implemented by the ancient practitioners often work wonders for many ailments and diseases.
Ayurvedic treatments are popular as they tend to have no adverse side effects, an unavoidable aspect of most modern treatments. It is thus becoming commonly accepted as a form of alternative medicine to cure many common diseases and infection, including those of the skin. A healthy skin is an indication of good overall health.
Ayurveda is known to be very effective in treatment of skin ailments. The first step inAyurvedic herbal skin treatment is to assess the balance of energies in an individual.Common skin disorders and their treatment are listed below based on Ayurvedic classification.
Dry Skin
Type: This skin type is generally dry, thin, delicate and cool to touch. It is extremely vulnerable to weather conditions, especially dry windy weather and easily gets dehydrated. Such skin may age faster and tends to be rough and flaky when out of balance.
Care: Essential oils and herbs should be used to nurture the skin. Drinking plenty of water to keep the skin rehydrated is a must. Meditation and breathing exercises help too. It is also recommended that one eats warm, nourishing food and maintain a disciplined daily routine. Oil massages, Vata medicines and Vata tea are used to nourish and balance the skin.
Mixed Skin
Type: People with this skin type have fair, sensitive, soft, and warm skin of medium thickness. It is susceptible to freckles and moles. When out of balance, the skin may develop rashes, acne, or sunspots.
Care: This skin requires cooling and nurturing. Skincare products and sunscreen protect it from harmful UV rays. Synthetic chemicals and cosmetics are best avoided on this skin type. Eating organic food and avoiding hot and spicy food is beneficial. Pitta medicinal powders and Pitta tea have a cooling effect, and drinking water prevents breakouts.
Oily Skin
Type: This type is characterised by oily, thick, pale, soft, and cool skin. Such skin is more tolerant towards UV. So tanning is possible, but overexposure is harmful. It ages slower and forms less wrinkles than the other two skin types. People with this skin type may face problems of dull complexion, enlarged pores, excessive oil, blackheads, and acne. Some individuals may develop moist types of eczema and water retention.
Care: Toxins are the bane of people with this skin. One should cleanse the skin regularly by scrubbing and exfoliating. Cooked vegetables should be consumed with spices such as those found in kapha powder. Oily food should be avoided but olive oil in small quantities is beneficial. Drinking kapha tea helps in overall skin care. Individuals also need to exercise more and maintain a healthy digestive system.

Obesity – Types and Treatment

Obesity is when a person is carrying too much body fat for their height and sex. A person is considered obese if they have a Body Mass Index (BMI) - weight in kilograms divided by their height in meters squared - of 30 or greater. Obesity can happen when you eat more calories than you burn off over a period of time. To most people, the term "obesity" means to be very overweight. Health professionals define "overweight" as an excess amount of body weight that includes muscle, bone, fat, and water. "Obesity" specifically refers to an excess amount of body fat.

Abdominal Obesity and Limb Obesity

Depending on where fat is stored on the body, obesity can be divided in to abdominal obesity and limb obesity. Abdominal obesity is when fat is mostly distributed over the abdomen and back, and limb obesity is when fat is concentrated around the thighs, arms, legs, and buttocks. Abdominal obesity occurs mainly in men; limb obesity occurs primarily in women.

Hereditary
Obesity tends to run in families, which could signify a genetic cause, or, simply a lifestyle cause. People within the same family tend to share similar diet and exercise habits.
ENVIRONMENTALLY INDUCED OBESITY
Environmental factors associated with obesity include recreational eating, cultural and family eating patterns, job environments that provide or encourage the use of calorie-dense foods, the social role of eating (e.g., dinner parties), and sedentary patterns of employment and recreation.

Constitutional Obesity

Obesity starts from infancy to adult. Usually they have family history of Obesity. They have very good appetite from half a year after birth and body fat cell number begins to increase. Their metabolism is slow and synthesis exceeds catabolism. There will be poor cure effect by limiting diet and strengthening exercise. They are not sensitive to insulin.

Treatment

Successful programs for weight loss reduction and maintenance should be started and followed under the care of a physician and/or a nutritionist. A weight-loss program may include:
• Exercise (the Surgeon General has called for 30 minutes of physical activity on most days of the week)
• A low-fat, high-complex carbohydrate, high fiber diet
• Behavior modification to change eating behavior
• Social support
• Medications
Diet Therapy
Lifestyle modifications such as increasing physical activity and decreasing calorie intake are recommended instead of "dieting." Crash diets should definitely be avoided. The best approach to changing your diet is to talk to your doctor to find out what is best for you. Your doctor can provide you with dietary guidelines or refer you to a dietician for further help. Dietary guidelines will differ for each person depending on height, weight, concurrent health conditions, and desired amount of weight loss.
Potential Benefits of Medication Treatment
Over the short term, weight loss in obese individuals may reduce a number of health risks. Studies looking at the effects of weight-loss medication treatment on obesity-related health risks have found that some agents lower blood pressure, blood cholesterol, and triglycerides (fats) and decrease insulin resistance (the body's inability to use blood sugar) over the short term. However, long-term studies are needed to determine if weight loss from weight-loss medications can improve health.

Causes of Childhood Obesity and Diabetes

Based on childhood obesity statistics, the First Lady has very high concerns for childhood obesity in America. If you read the newspapers, you may have seen the headline "Michelle Obama Says: Childhood Obesity a National Security Threat." This has led to much concern for childhood obesity prevention.

Childhood obesity causes might surprise you, for there are many reasons that children are in need of weight loss. One of the childhood obesity facts that might not be apparent to many is that it is the number one health crisis among children. The childhood obesity statistics clearly show that a majority of young people weigh 20% or more than normal for their height.

obese-television.jpgChildhood Obesity Facts

1. Parental neglect is a contributing factor to childhood obesity. Neglect in this case can be in the form of not watching what a child eats or constantly supplying the wrong types of food. Another way that parents neglect their children is by allowing them to sit too much and not exercise.

2. Too many televisions in the house are another contributor to childhood obesity statistics. Every family member seems to have a television so they all can watch exactly what they want every waking hour of the day. Childhood obesity causes stem from inactivity and overeating, and they are both encouraged by watching television.

3. Fast foods should rank at the top of childhood obesity causes. It has long been known that sugars and fats are packed into the chicken, burgers, soft drinks, and fries that are so readily available in fast food restaurants.
What Can Be Done Toward Weight Loss in Children?

Childhood obesity facts point directly to the lifestyles all parents not only lead but allow their children to lead, too. If America is to do anything about weight loss in children, it must begin at the parental level.

When babies are fat, no one is concerned about their weight loss because it is considered healthy for babies to be chubby. The problem arises because parents never consider children to be anything but babies until they have already developed bad habits. One childhood obesity fact that is abundantly clear is that parents do not know how to say "no" to many of the things that lead to childhood obesity statistics.

The school system has become a heavy contributor to childhood obesity causes. They may offer some healthy food choices, but children aren't going to opt for those when they can have pizza, burgers, sugar filled sodas, and fries. Considering the opportunities children have for bad foods, it is no wonder they reach maturity without understanding about proper nutrition.

Promoting Healthier Lifestyle Habits

Eating healthier and exercising more are the prime contributors to weight loss for both children and their parents. Children learn what they live, so the earlier parents start teaching kids about proper nutrition and exercise, the more likely they will be to carry those habits on into adulthood and lead healthier lives.

Is Beauty Better Than Brains?

Alusine M. Kanu DA

But what really matters in life? An old proverb states, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Something or someone is beautiful, depending on the perspective of the person looking in. But the major thing that matters is- Is the person good-looking from inside? Because without a doubt inner beauty lasts forever whereas outer beauty fades. Anyone can fake the outside to make himself or herself look better and pretty but inner beauty can't be faked.
It has now been more than four decades since Robert Rosenthal and L. Jacobson publishedPygmalion in the Classroom: Teacher Expectation and Pupils' Intellectual Development(1968). Rosenthal and Jacobson detailed the effect of teachers' expectations on students' performance and came to the conclusion that the impact wasconsiderable. Subsequent research (see Clifford and Walster, 1973; Elashoff and Snow, 1971) found that students' physical attractiveness was one of the major determinants of teachers' expectations. This seems unfair to children. A teacher's estimate of a child's abilities should not be so strongly influenced by physical attractiveness; moreover, the child's actual perfor-mance will be affected—because of the self-fulfillment prophecy or other such processes. One would hope, then, that these processes would be taken into account by teachers and schools. Ritts, Patterson, and Tubbs (1992) returned to these issues, reviewing 29 studies on expectations and judgments of physically attractive students, and performing a meta-analysis on 17 of these studies. (A meta-analysis is a statistical review and summary of results of several studies.) They concluded:

The studies reviewed here clearly show that highly attractive students, compared to their unattractive counterparts, are the beneficiaries of more favorable judge-ments by some teachers. This attractiveness effect is reflected in teachers' more positive experiences of physically attractive students in terms of their intelligence, academic potential, grades, and other attributes (p. 422).
The significance of this research is hard to miss. Physical attractiveness has an impact early in our lives. It can determine what others, particularly others that figure largely in our development, think and expect of us. Although it would be overstating the case to indicate that all teachers' expectations are influenced by physical attractiveness, or that other factors don't play much of a role in developing those expectations, physical attractiveness is clearly important, as Rosenthal and Jacobson initially suggested.
‘Knowledge is power' and brain is the container of knowledge. A person is different from a beast only for his or her brain that makes them learn to differentiate between good and evil. Physical beauty is an added quality. Life is enlightened for brains and not for beauty. A beautiful appearance with dull brains is of no use. On the other hand, a bugle appearance having a powerful brain can produce something for human welfare. So, brains have got prominence over beauty.
Beauty and brains are two vital factors for humans. Someone would prefer having beautiful and good looking appearance and feel they are very lucky. On the other hand, someone would prefer having brains. I would prefer having brains than beauty. Beauty is a comparative idea. Someone may be exceptionally beautiful wouldn't last for life-time. One's physical beauty can easily be abated. So the stability of physical attraction is not getting guarantee for life-time. If a beautiful women or a handsome man loses physical attraction, she or he might fail getting the desired response from other people. It is sometimes said that brain or talent is God-gifted thing. If it is such a thing, it requires nourishment properly. If one's brain is not used, they can surely to be almost worthless. Through use or practice of brain a person can do lot for themselves, for their society, for their country and even for the world. A person of brains can easily win the heart of common people through his or her invaluable services to the human family. A person with a beautiful brain is smart and self-dependent. He or she can adjust themselves to anyone and everyone. He or she knows the proper way of how to lead life properly. Moreover, he or she is also aware of his communication, behaviors, attitudes, beliefs or values.
What is your reaction to the case study and think about your personal answer to the question, is beauty better than brains?

Inner Beauty, Outer Beauty and How Makeup can change your life

By

Most of the people, when they are asked what would they chose between inner beauty and outer beauty, probably due to their respect towards the person who asked, they would say that inner beauty. And after all, this is true, at the end of the road, this is the most important thing that remains to us, that we can use and bond on, as life won't freeze when we have 20 years old. But have you ever realized that many people are actually talking more about the past and future, rather than the present? They usually regret about something that they should have been doing since long time ago, or continuously talk about their future plans and dreams, but without taking any action. The fact that most of us forget to live in present and face reality, can lead to unpleasant memories. So far, I remembered you that inner beauty is important, but this is something which you can rely for the rest of your life if you care about you and the people around you. Now let me tell you why outer beauty is a strong life enhancer and why it's important for you now, in present.
Act now when you are still young! People say that someone with a great inner beauty, cannot have as well a great physical appearance and vice versa ; and honestly to say, this is true, and out there you can rarely find someone with both of these qualities. The reason of why this is occurring, is that someone with an inner beauty, is willing to help and care about people more than it's own person, while an outer beauty will mostly look for after their own person, making sure they are in the center of attention and get all the applauses.
Often, people from all range of ages, can get all kind of bad moments in life that can cause scars to be remembered, due to the fact that they cannot understand that even if they are a good person and willing to help people, the world isn't pink and before you can reveal your true identity, your really personality, you must have the chance to do that. How can you do it, since the world will reject you just by your looking? And now you might say: "well heck, why should I want friends who cares just about my looking?" Well, if you did said friends, remember that many times happens that we have an impression of a person before and after it will become your friend, good or bad. Nobody will show you their true identity in days, more over, this is a task which you must discover in time. And this doesn't limit only here, just think about how many people are rejected from an interview just because of their looking, and of course without telling you that. Just think how many teen girls are having depression because all they think of is how they look or why boys are jerks for leaving them. Well, it's not their fault that they fall in love with a girl that once took care of herself and then she starts losing interest in her own aspect.

Before and After - Self Makeup
Benefits of outer beauty can be unlimited, help can be obtained a lot more easier especially from people who you even don't know, people will become so friendly with you and willing to do most of your requirements, basically you have them at your feet. Not to say that when you attract so many people in your life, you can have the option to pick your friends, rather than having just 2 annoying buddies who will change your mood if any of them are having problems. Yes, it's true and proven, that people with more friends are actually more happy than the ones with few. And I'm talking about friends in real life, not about your social network 'friend' list! The picture you are seeing there, is a self made makeup, before and after!
"But what can I do? I am not born as a beautiful woman, didn't had that luck, so what is the point of reading this? Just to get annoyed of my misfortune?" First of all, never call a misfortune, the fact that you were born. Every person it's unique in their own way and has every time something that the other doesn't have or need. Strange thing that we always want things that others have and vice versa! The main idea in here, is that if you work on something and you want to achieve it, it can be done! And if this applies in every situation, why shouldn't apply in here? Okay, so you probably aren't a girl listed in top 10 of the most sexy girls from the planet, but seriously, do you really want that? In case you didn't noticed, girls who are attractive, they don't need to work that much on makeup techniques, however, they never forget about doing it! No matter the situation, time, event or any other reason. The fact that they care about themselves and use makeup techniques is the first things that makes you different from them. Secondly, the fact that they give interest into this art, and tries to know more about this world, creates a big space between you and them.
Remember that makeup, is something practiced all over the world, and some of the girls will say that it doesn't really make a big contribution to their life, but do they quit on doing it ? And did you know that the most successful girls in the showbiz started from being just an average girl with an average looking? You want to know how? They used makeup as a part of their life, and made it a hobby and a must. Once you do that, you will start looking for better techniques! Professional makeup can be done by yourself too if you never thought on that, just that such services, tutorials or products aren't usually shown to the large public.
Learning how to do yourself  professional makeup, can drastically change your appearance, can surely improve your self confidence and statue in society, and the list can continue endless.
I've seen pretty much girls around me changing day by day, and as a boy, I just thought that : "oh well, maybe Mother Nature gives her some credit after all"; I'm just saying that because due to her professional makeup, it made me thought that she really become beautiful overnight because of 'evolution'. Yes, it doesn't sound nice, but at least we are honest. A girl with self respect can improve her attitude towards any subject! As they changed, it made me suddenly become interested in them, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but this is a true statement that everybody has it's place on.
Some of them told me that they signed up for a private course, makeup schools ,share techniques, or that they simply read more and more about this art trying to achieve as much knowledge as they could about it. And most of them are students of University of Makeup, which I recommended to some people , because it's a place where they say that being part of it really made their life easier. Oh well, sometimes I'm happy I'm just a boy and don't need to do those things, but aside this, I can tell that makeup is something that truly changes a girl, starting from outer beauty to inner beauty as well!

How Does Rheumatoid Arthritis Attack the Whole Body?

One of the mysteries in the understanding of a complicated disease like rheumatoid arthritis is... how does it attack so many joints? What causes it to spread?

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, systemic, autoimmune condition that usually starts in a single joint but then spreads to involve multiple joints. The hallmark of the disease is its symmetrical joint involvement. Also, because internal organs may be affected, it is a disease that carries with it substantial morbidity (complications) as well as mortality (death).

Rheumatoid arthritis is very different from the other common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis, which is basically a wear and tear problem localized to weight-bearing joints. Osteoarthritis does not produce the destructive changes that are characteristic of rheumatoid disease.

Recent research has provided tantalizing evidence as to how rheumatoid arthritis spreads.

Researchers at Justus-Liebig University in Bad Nauheim, Germany recently published the results of their work in Nature Medicine demonstrating the critical role of rheumatoid arthritis synovial fibroblasts (RASFs) in the spread of the disease.

Fibroblasts are a type of cell that is primarily involved in the wound healing process. They are responsible for the laying down of connective tissue. However, when turned on in a particular fashion, they morph from Dr. Jeckyll into Mr Hyde.

These "turned-on" fibroblasts, now known as "rheumatoid arthritis synovial fibroblasts", are present in abundance in the synovium- the lining of the joint. These RASFs become very destructive and are felt to be one of the major culprits responsible for the damage to cartilage found in rheumatoid arthritis.

To elucidate the mechanism by which RASFs could spread arthritis from joint to joint, lead author Elena Neumann and her colleagues took human cartilage and implanted it under the skin of mice genetically engineered not to reject tissue from a different species. The implantations were done in the flanks.

On one flank, the mice received healthy, normal human cartilage; on the other, they received cartilage loaded with human RASFs.
A control group of mice who received normal healthy cartilage in both flanks showed minimal damage, as did mice that received implants of fibroblasts from patients with osteoarthritis.

Another striking discovery occurred when the researchers sacrificed the mice and examined the spleens. The mice which developed rheumatoid arthritis had spleens packed with RASFs. The spleen is the major organ responsible for filtering blood. The fact that RASFs are found in such abundance in the spleens of the rheumatoid arthritis mice provides strong evidence that RASFs travel through the blood stream to do their damage rather than just secrete chemicals that go into the blood stream.

Apparently RASFs can travel via the blood stream and then leave by crawling through the spaces between cells that form the lining of the blood vessels to invade other joints and other organ systems.

When the researchers look at the joints of the sacrificed mice, they didn't find RASFs. They hypothesized that it takes time for the RASFs to travel to other joints and can only enter cartilage if there is already some minor damage. This would explain why it often takes many months for rheumatoid arthritis to spread.

The scientific findings have therapeutic implications since treatments designed to prevent RASFs from entering the bloodstream, traveling through the blood stream, or leaving the blood stream to attack healthy tissue could potentially prevent the spread of rheumatoid arthritis.

[Editor's note: I personally think this is one of the most exciting bits of news in a long time and the authors should be commended for such fine work.]

Rheumatoid Arthritis - Explained In Simple Terms

The doctor informs you that you are suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and you are devastated by the news. Yes, this could be indeed some very bad news, but it could always be worse. Understanding this disease is one way that you could come to terms with it, know what to expect when and work out a plan of action to control it in the best manner you can.

What Is Rheumatoid Arthritis?

This is a disease that affects about one percent of USA's population and the statistics show that this figure is growing fast. The exact reason for rheumatoid arthritis is not yet identified; but it well known that when this happens, the body's immune system all of a sudden turns against itself - articularly the tissues found at the joints. This is why the symptoms of this disease include extreme pain at the joints (usually in pairs, for example - both elbows, both knees, etc). It is believed that genetics also play a very important role here.

The diagnosis is done by identifying the rheumatoid factor which is actually an antibody that indicates the presence of this dreadful disease. The presence of this antibody (in the blood) as well as the typical symptoms such as pain, inflammation and movement limitation can confirm the diagnosis. An X-ray of the affected joints can further confirm the presence of the disease.

It is important to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis as early as possible so that you can have it treated since it progresses fast and it attacks not only the joints but also the more vital organs in the body - such as (the lining of) the heart, lungs and kidneys. The other places where this disease can strike are the tear ducts and the salivary glands. The average age when this disease attacks can be anything from early 20s to late 50s; once you get it, it is very hard if not impossible to get rid of it.

However, you can still make the best of it with proper medication, exercise and alternative medication that could open for you new ways to live your life to the full even if you are suffering from a disease such as rheumatoid arthritis.

Beware that rheumatoid arthritis has no immediate cure and you might have to live with this disease until death. However, this is should not scare you too much. If you take care that you have the right rheumatoid arthritis medication, the right type of life, you could still be in charge of your life and not let a stroke of bad luck go against your capability to enjoy other blessings that have been showered upon you.
