Teen's health is not an easy subject for any parent in India. Most teenage boys and girls are undergoing hormonal and physical changes. Mood swings, hair growth, breast development, and menstrual periods are an important part of puberty. But, these changes have a psychological impact on teenage girl's health too. Thus, teenage girls and their parents must understand girl's health care challenges in this time. Here are some actionable and useful health care tips for teenage girls and their parents.
Know calories needs of a teenage girl.
 Most teen girls develop different body image due to hormones and premenstrual syndrome (PMS). It can cause fluid retention, dietary cravings, anxiety and irritability. That's why; some teenage girls lose self-esteem and body satisfaction. However, it is crucial to eat healthy and nutritious diet and maintain a healthy weight during this time.  It is crucial for teenage girl's health. If any teenage girl wants to go on "diet", it is important to understand body's needs in terms of calories, vitamins and minerals. So, teen girls must lose weight in a healthy way if necessary.

 Support all the puberty related changes.
During the teenage years, several changes occur at the different levels. Teenagers need independence from the parental control and peer approval. But, they also develop an interest in sex and interest in handling complex tasks. So, these social and psychological changes need to be supported well. Parents must provide the essential freedom and remain available for any and all communication. Parents must allow them to have more control of life choices like extracurricular activities.  They can learn to resolve the conflicts independently. However, it is essential to convey love and care. A right combination of care and understanding is essential for teen's emotional health and well being. Teen's health is significantly impacted by their choices of their parents and friends. 
Develop healthy habits.
Be it driving licence or choice of friends, teenage boys and girls learn to choose independently. So, a part of this process is to inculcate healthy habits. Most of them become a critical part of adult life too. So, enough exercise, 8 hours of sleep, safe travel, and a responsible way of life are important for girl's health care. So, teenagers and their parent must take a combined effort to develop beneficial habits for a long term. It can redefine teen's health and adult life ahead. But, it is important for parents shift their approach towards teenagers from children to adults. This will empower health communication and well-informed decisions.       
So, teenage girl's health care is not about managing today's circumstances well. But, a major part of it to develop a healthy tomorrow with right teen health tips and support.
